Interview Attire Tips For Exterior Painters Looking To Get Painting Work

When looking to get a job as an exterior house painter, you're going to need to consider not only how you will prepare for the interview questions that are to come but how you are going to be dressed.

Though it's fairly clear that you're not going to go to your job interview wearing a dirty band shirt and ripped jeans, the nuance of what you should wear can be a bit complicated.

Let's have a look at some interview attire tips for exterior painters looking to get painting work

1. Professional Image Through Presentation

Even if you have the best looking shirt out there, if it is covered with wrinkles and looks like it sat on your floor all night that sends the wrong message.

It should be stated as well that the clothing you wear to the interview is going to need to be clean -- you're going to be painting, but that doesn't mean you should show up sporting a jelly stain from that morning's doughnut or a big splotch of coffee on your pants.

Dressing in a clean and pressed manner gives your future employer the impression that you care about the job that you are going to be getting.

2. Clean And Polished Boots

Coming to a job interview wearing boots or shoes that are tattered and hole filed is no way to give your future employer a good impression..

You're going to want a good pair of work boots or shoes that show off that you are ready to come to work the next day, if that's what your employer is going to want you to do.

Overall the impression you should be giving off is one that shows that you care about the look of your boots and you know that you need them in good shape for the work you will be doing.

3 . Minimal Accessories

Having a couple of fashionable accessories is okay -- a watch that doesn't send the signal that you're wearing a watch only to show off how much money you have (function is more important for this kind of interview) and of course your wedding band if you are married.

What you don't want to do, however, is to put on so much jewelry that you look like you're coming in to audition for a job as a professional musician who just loves jewelry more than anything else.

Having a large number of ear piercings is also not the way to go when you're interviewing for an exterior painter position -- it doesn't give off the right look, as it were.

4.. Hair Is Neat

Lastly, remember that the hair on your head and your face is also going to give a good or perhaps not so good impression -- so it's important to keep it looking neat.

Your hair should be clean of course but it should also be styled neatly so that it doesn't look wild and unkempt -- and your research of the company may show that they prefer a shorter look for their painters and if that's the case, you'll have to get that look for yourself as well.

It may be perfectly acceptable to have facial hair but in any case this too should look like some thought was put into it -- you don't want hairs going everywhere and to just have the look of a wild person.

Remember also that you aren't going to want to smell like you just walked through a cologne or perfume store -- in some cases, potential clients have cologne allergies so you're better going off absolutely minimal than smelling strongly of the stuff.
